Quest | Issue 6 | Exile

12.00

Founded by Rabbi Louis Jacobs, the journal Quest, as it was in the 1960s, existed to reflect the age’s “tensions, problems, ideas and achievements.” Although today we are faced with a very different set of circumstances, the imperative to interrogate those circumstances remains unchanged.

Revived by siblings Chloe and Max Julius in 2017, the theme of the inaugural issue is exile, a state of being in which growing numbers of people are living: from homelands, from communities, from ideas, from idealised versions of themselves. Its many forms – even those that are self-imposed – imply compulsion and bereavement.
